Aneurysm Clipping

Aneurysm Clipping

Stopping a Brain Aneurysm Before It Becomes Dangerous

A brain aneurysm is a weak, bulging area in a blood vessel of the brain. If it bursts, it can cause life-threatening bleeding called a brain hemorrhage or stroke. The good news is, with timely treatment, we can prevent this from happening.

At Sai Sankara Rao Brain Spine & Neuro Clinic, we offer Aneurysm Clipping, a proven surgical method to permanently fix a brain aneurysm and stop it from bursting.

What Is Aneurysm Clipping?

Aneurysm clipping is a surgery done under a microscope. During the procedure, a tiny metal clip is placed at the base (neck) of the aneurysm. This clip stops blood from flowing into the bulge, preventing it from growing or leaking.

The procedure is done under general anesthesia and requires careful planning using CT, MRI, or angiogram imaging.

When Is Clipping Needed?

Aneurysm clipping is advised if:

  • The aneurysm is large, growing, or leaking

  • There is a family history of aneurysms or stroke

  • The patient has sudden, severe headaches, vision changes, nausea, or loss of consciousness
